Simple daily skin routine for acne skin.

If you have had acne prone skin you know the struggle and frustration to finding the right regimen that does not aggravate your already angry complexion. Between all the washes, toners, acids, oils and serums it is an expensive land mine of information.

The first CBD skin product we developed was our Clear serum to help fight the acne we were suffering from as an adult and to help heal our teenagers acne so we are very passionate about it.

The solution doesn't have to be a lengthy routine. Here is our lightweight 4 step process to acne free skin without harsh ingredients, plus a few secret solutions you can incorporate now.

STEP ONE: CLEANSE YOUR SKIN

Don't skip this step. Morning and night. Use a gentle cleanser formulated to remove excess oil, dead skin and makeup without drying skin or causing redness.
We like: Cetaphil and the Clear Pore normalizing cleanser from  Paula's Choice

For hormonal teenagers: Keep Cetaphil Face makeup remover wipes on hand. Clean face, chest and back after athletic activities or on hot days.

Note: Acne-fighting ingredients are powerful and effective, but they are known to cause skin drying (especially benzoyl peroxide) when used in excess. To avoid irritation, dryness, or peeling, only use acne cleansers as directed.

STEP TWO: USE TONER

Toners are a great way to ensure you have removed all the dirt and dead skin cells off your face and body. Use a toner with ingredients formulated to combat acne like salicylic acid to clear stubborn acne and blackheads help balance the skin’s pH levels, reduce excess shine, redness and hydrate the skin.

We have been using Paula's choice product for over 10 years and can attest to their skin saving benefits.

We like: CLEAR Extra Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid from Paula's Choice and Curology

STEP THREE: USE A MOISTURIZER

This step was the hardest for me to accept with my overly oil skin type. But after a visit to the esthetician who told me all skin types need daily hydration, I realized this was a needed step most people with active breakouts avoid. Oily skin produces more oil to make up for what’s believed to be lost. What’s more, acne-fighting ingredients like benzoyl peroxide can be drying so if you’re using one in your routine you especially want to make sure you supply your skin with additional moisture.

When it comes to picking a moisturizer to use, reach for one that’s non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores.

Pro tip: These products combine Sunscreen and target blemishes while hydrating.
During the day: Use a light moisturizer with a SPF. We like CLEAR Ultra-Light Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 30+ from Paula's choice.
In the evening: Use our Clear serum with soothing plant-derived antioxidants and hydrators help smooth and calm skin, control oil production and minimizing flaking and dryness.

STEP FOUR: A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

It goes without saying that healthy skin (not hormonal) comes from within. Staying hydrated and exercising nourish your skins cells and help eliminate waste.

Pro Tip: Look for Aesthetician schools in your area.
Beauty Institutes are gems for those wanting regular skin care services but who are on a budget.
Ever since I found the G-Skin Beaty Institute in Las Vegas  I have been getting monthly microdermabrasion treatments for $30.

They have schools in:

  • Chicago
  • Nevada
  • Arizona
